Islam supports Unicase’s Banking and Finance team on financing, project finance and corporate matters, including legal due diligence, corporate approvals and banking regulatory questions.

He assists with the preparation of legal opinions in financing transactions, legal research and the drafting of transaction documents and supporting materials.
  • Assisted the team in preparing capacity, validity and enforceability opinions for the financing of one of Kazakhstan’s largest infrastructure projects, valued at approximately USD 1.03 billion and involving development banks and international lenders.

  • Assisted the team with legal due diligence in connection with the financing of a gas chemical project in Kazakhstan by a major foreign development bank.

  • Assisted the team with contract work for a consortium involved in an urban rail transit project with state authorities and foreign participants.

  • Assisted the team in preparing a legal opinion on the capacity and corporate approvals of a transport and logistics group in connection with a financing transaction with a foreign bank.

  • Assisted the team with corporate due diligence for mining and manufacturing companies, including a review of corporate structures, approvals and key legal risks.

  • Assisted the team in preparing a quarterly legal environment monitoring report for an international pipeline company, covering regulatory, tax and sanctions developments in Kazakhstan.
