Islamic finance is becoming an increasingly important part of the global financial system, supported by growing demand for ethical, asset-backed and risk-sharing solutions, with the market exceeding USD 5 trillion in 2025. Its relevance in Kazakhstan is also growing as the AIFC (Astana International Financial Centre) develops a legal framework for Islamic banking, sukuk, leasing, insurance and investment structures, making an understanding of this field increasingly important for advisers, investors and businesses.
Unicase team attended an introductory Islamic finance training at our Astana office, delivered by Nursalim Suleimenov, Senior Islamic Finance Manager/ Secretary of the Islamic Finance Advisory Board.
The session explored the core principles of Islamic finance, Shari’ah compliance and the structure of key financial instruments. Unlike conventional interest-based financing, Islamic finance is built around real assets, shared risk and ethical principles, which creates a distinct legal and transactional architecture.
We would like to thank Nursalim Suleimenov for sharing his valuable expertise with our team.
